  • I actually signed in to xanga!  I am sure you are impressed.  I wanted to comment on a friend's post.

Things are calm at the moment in my world.  Michigan is full into fall.  It is cold!  The leaves are changing quickly and it is really pretty.

Hannah had her 16th birthday on October 2nd.  It is hard to believe that she is that old.  She is my youngest.  It is also hard to believe that it has been almost 2 years since her transplants.  She is doing so well.  We are blessed.

Tootles for now.  Maybe I am starting a xanga posting trend, but I doubt it.

  • I made a quick trip to Chattanooga.  I got a call on Friday morning from my mom.  She let me know that a close friend of our family had passed away.  Her name was Jeannie Robinson.  I have known this lady as long as I can remember.  Her family and mine have been friends since about 1966 or 67.  She died of a type of blood cancer.  She was only 67 years old.  It is very strange to think that she is gone.  I drove to Chattanooga later that day.  The viewing was on Monday and the funeral was on Tuesday.  There were more than a thousand people there on each day.  Jeannie and her family are very much loved.

Mitch flew down to Chattanooga for the services Monday and Tuesday.  We got up early Wednesday morning and started the drive back to Chattanooga.  Mitch has had the flu and bronchitis for about two weeks.  Hannah and I had dodged it until now.  I started feeling yucky in the car yesterday.  Last night and today I am very congested and achy.  I will also admit to being a bit cranky.  Luckily, no one is home to bear the brunt of this crankiness.

After being gone for 6 days, I returned home to a house that was fairly neat.  I was relieved.  Today though, I have noticed that the plants are drooping, there are the same clothes in the dryer that I left there on Friday morning, the clean sheets that I had laid out were still sitting there, and the same pot is in the sink.  I guess it is nice to be needed.  Isn't that the attitude I should have?

Today starts Prayer Conference for our office.  I am wondering if I am going to make it to the service tonight.  I have a meeting of my Women's Ministries Board tomorrow that I will attend - sick or not.  I will just stay away from everyone, try not to touch anything, and use a lot of hand sanitizer.

I just happened to be in Chattanooga when there was a planning meeting for a 30 year reunion for the class that graduated before me at ERHS.  They are going to invite the classes before and after them to their 30 year reunion.  I think it is a great idea - which I had planned to suggest for our 30 year reunion next year.  But anyway, I went to this meeting and enjoyed it.  I went to school with some great people that I am so happy to be reconnecting with on facebook.

The next few months will be busy for me.  I will be putting together my annual big deal Camp Meeting Luncheon for June and also will be helping plan these school reunions.  My mother and mother in law both have 70th birthdays this summer, I have travel planned, and I am starting to help Hannah with her prep for college.  She will be a junior next year, so we are trying to find out if there are specific courses she should be taking her junior and senior years.  Maybe if I had done this kind of planning for myself, I might have graduated from college and actually been able to decide on a major.  But who knows.

    Tootles!

About Me

  • I'm a mid 40s, mother of two - married to a minister since 1982. My oldest daughter married during the summer of '05. She was a beautiful bride and is doing great! My younger daughter was born in 1993 and has Cystic Fibrosis. After waiting two years, she received a liver/pancreas transplant in Oct. 2007. She is recovering nicely. I would be happy to chat with other CF caregivers to offer support, information, and encouragement.
